About us
History of BDMJ:
In 1995 M.J. Entertainment formed and started hosting parties, bringing concerts & gospel plays to the Louisvile urban scence. For Myke, Dajuan, Jamie & Don, the members of Big Don & M.J.Entertainment, friendship has always come before business. "It all started in Myke's moms back room as kids." That's the way Jamie, President of Marketing, describes the beginning of Louisville's premier entertainment & promotions company. Ten years ago 4 lifelong friends took there business savvy and parlayed what was something to do for fun into a business plan.
Since then, they have invested in various business ventures with entertainment always remaining the primary focus. In 1998 they became minority owners in an independent radio station, WBLO Hot 104. Their first promotion through the radio station was a celebrity Derby Bash that featured the Late great Aaliyah & friends Ginuwine, Timbaland and Louisville's own Playa. Following that in 1999 they landed the Hard Knock Life tour feat. Jay-Z, DMX, Redman & Methodman at the Louisville Gardens, revitalizing the concert scene in Louisville. In 2000 the Hip-Hop Fest featuring NAS, & 36 Mafia solidified M.J. Entertainment's presence and they developed the reputation for giving the people what they want. During this time they maintained a strong presence in the community as the premier party host in the city the demand grew and their parties outgrew facilities where they hosted them, a plan to take it to another level was put in place.
In 2003, they opened the most highly anticipated NightClub in Louisville, B2 A.R.E Dreams! This quickly became the hot spot for entertainment in the city. The livest Saturday nights intown went down at Dreams! Not only a nightclub but an entertainment venue that hosted concert events for Camron & Julez Santanta, Dem Franchize Boys, Freeway and many more.
Wanting to return to its roots of parties without the daily grind of a club, Big Don & M.J.Entertainment closed Dreams in 2006. But since then they have continued to stay ahead of the game. They are passionate about parties and continue to do what it takes to be the front runners in the entertainment business. Their annual events are the highlight of Louisville's urban community and Big Don M.J. Entertainment's plans are to take it to new heights in 2007 as they strive to give the people what they want!
